Kent Smith
EVP, Chief Financial Officer
Kent Smith is a finance professional with over 25 years of experience in the public banking sector. He is currently the EVP, Chief Financial Officer at Sunwest Bank. Mr. Smith is experienced in directing the financial functions of a bank, including the management of liquidity, capital, interest rate risk (IRR), securities, portfolio, planning and budgeting, and internal and external public and regulatory reporting.
Prior to Sunwest, Mr. Smith served as the Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at Pacific Premier Bank, where he was instrumental in raising $ 15.5 million of additional capital for the purpose of acquiring other banking institutions. He also was influential in acquiring two FDIC banks and assisted with raising $37 million of equity to support organic growth and acquisitions.
Previously he also held senior roles at Downey Savings and Loan Association. Mr. Smith was pivotal in cutting costs by implementing technology and streamlining procedures and workflows. He assisted in raising $120 million in capital securities and $200 million in Senior Notes. He has also held roles at Farwest Savings and Loan and Deloitte and Touche.
Mr. Smith graduated from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor’s in Accounting and currently resides in Utah.
