Shawn Kirshner is the Executive Vice President, Chief Risk Officer at Sunwest Bank. In his role at Sunwest
Mr. Kirshner leads risk management across the bank, including compliance, information security and privacy, foreign correspondent banking, vendor management, and audit reporting.
He has over twenty-five years of banking experience in leading the development and implementation of sustainable and scalable enterprise risk, audit, and compliance programs that effectively balanced risk to business strategy goals and objectives for profitability and operational performance. He is adept at building or remediating governance frameworks for banks under regulatory enforcement actions in coordination with the C-Suite, Board, Internal Audit, and Risk while fulfilling regulator expectations. He joins us from Hanmi Bank where he was Head of Compliance, and prior to that he was with Crowe LLP in their Risk Advisory Services as well as the Chief Compliance Officer at Opus Bank.
Mr. Kirshner graduated from Cal State University, Northridge, with a degree in economics and an MBA from the University of Phoenix. He holds a Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM) certificate from the Institute of Certified Bankers and is a Project Management Professional (PMP) from the Project Management Institute.
