Thank you for visiting Sunwest Bank’s website. We understand the importance of customer privacy and want you to know what information is collected online and how we use it. We at Sunwest Bank recognize and respect your privacy. We are committed to protecting the security and confidentiality of your information. We use best business practices to help ensure that your online sessions are secure.
Please refer to our Privacy Notice, which we provide to all our individual customers, for a comprehensive explanation of how we collect, use and share personal information and what you can do to limit the use and sharing of your information as our customer.
Visiting Our Website
You can browse our website anonymously and learn about our services and products without providing any information about yourself. We will only obtain information that personally identifies you when you specifically choose to provide it.
When you do provide information to us, we will only use the information we need to deliver the high level of customer service you have come to expect, which includes informing you about products, services, and other opportunities that may be of benefit to you. If you do provide personal information, such as your name, mailing address, e-mail address, telephone or fax numbers, as well as demographic and other consumer identification, we will not sell or share it with external organizations unless we have informed you, been authorized by you, or are required by law to do so.
Information We Collect
We compile broad statistical trends that help us improve navigation and content of our website by assessing what information is of most or least interest, and identifying system performance or problem areas. No personal information is collected or used for this analysis.
We may record and track the following:
Why We Collect Information
We use third party display advertising features to better understand our customers, their needs, and to offer the best experience and products.
In order to facilitate this understanding, we collect online/mobile activity data. Online/mobile activity data includes data such as your IP address, your browser type and language, and your display/screen settings; data about how you use our website and how you interact with our website and mobile advertisements; data about your mobile device; advertising identifiers; geolocation data; social media preferences and other social media data.
Your privacy is very important to Sunwest Bank and we are committed to protecting your personal information from unauthorized access or use. We seek to use reasonable organizational, physical, technical and administrative measures to protect personal information within our organization.
We maintain electronic and procedural safeguards that comply with federal regulations to guard your nonpublic personal information. The security measures on our hosted website include 128 bit encryption, industry standard Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) protocol, intrusion detection systems, and firewalls. We continually assess and update our systems to improve our technology for protecting information.
Our Internet banking system uses a "3 strikes and you're out" lock-out mechanism to deter users from repeated login attempts. After three unsuccessful login attempts, the system locks the user out, requiring either a self service password reset or a phone call to the bank.
We may use a "cookie" (a tiny text identifier sent by our web server to your web browser) to facilitate navigation through our website, enhance your online experience, authenticate your access device, and establish and maintain a secure session. For certain applications, such as online or mobile banking, cookies are required to help protect the privacy of your transactions. We do not store personal confidential or sensitive information in cookies.
You can refuse to accept these cookies by configuring your device and browser settings accordingly. You will need to manage your cookie settings for each device and browser you use. If you elect to not accept these cookies, you may experience some inconvenience during your use of this website. You also may not receive customized advertisements and offers from us that may be relevant to your interests and needs.
Regular non-encrypted Internet e-mail is not secure; Internet Service Providers or others could monitor your e-mails. It is important that you do not send personal information in any Internet e-mail correspondence with us, such as account numbers, social security numbers, passwords or PIN numbers, or any other non-public privacy information. For your security, we do not accept instructions for the operation of your accounts by Internet e-mail.
We may keep details of any exchange of e-mails between us, as we do for traditional correspondence. In instances where our e-mail addresses are provided to you, it is for information inquiries of a non-sensitive and non-confidential nature only.
Links to non-Sunwest Bank Websites
We may provide links to non-Sunwest Bank companies, such as credit bureaus or government agencies. We are not responsible for the information practices or security of these websites. We provide these links solely as pointers to information on topics that may be useful to you.
Limited Employee Access to Personal Information
We limit employee access to your personal information to only those bank employees with a business reason for knowing such information. We also educate employees about the importance of confidentiality and customer privacy. In addition, individual user names and passwords are used by approved bank personnel to access your personal information, providing audit trails to further safeguard the privacy of your personal information.
Third-Party Disclosure Restrictions
We follow strict privacy procedures in regards to protecting your personal information. In addition, we require all third parties with a need to access this information to adhere to similar and equally stringent privacy policies. Personal information may be supplied to a third party in order to process a customer transaction; if the customer requests it; the disclosure is required or allowed by law (i.e. exchange of information with credit reporting agencies, subpoena, or the investigation of fraudulent activity, etc.); or for joint marketing purposes of which the customer has been previously informed.
Additionally, companies that provide online/mobile services on our behalf are required by contract to protect customer information. They are only allowed to use the information they collect for the purpose of providing the services that we have contracted to them.
Online and Mobile Banking Security
Access to our online and mobile banking system is protected by individual IDs and passwords. You play a crucial role in preventing others from logging on to your account. Make sure you keep the user ID, password and PIN a secret. Never reveal your ID, password or PIN to another person. Memorize it and, if you need to keep a written record of it, store it in a secure location and do not carry it in your wallet or purse. Make sure no one watches you enter your ID, password or PIN, and remember to exit the browser and mobile application when you have completed your online session. Never use passwords that are easy to guess. Examples of "bad" passwords are: birth dates, first names, pet names, addresses, phone numbers, social security numbers, etc.
Remember to educate yourself on scams and threats and to maintain your computer operating system and data security software up to date. Also, never click on an unverified link in an email.
Preventing Identity Theft
Please be aware, however, that in certain telephone and in-person transactions we may ask for your full social security number, account number or other information to verify your identity before conducting the transactions you have requested. For example, we may ask for such information to verify your identity when you place a call to us or when you visit one of our branch offices. We will never request that you disclose your personal ID or password under any circumstances, including such telephone or in-person transactions.
No Sunwest Bank employee, or any company affiliated with Sunwest Bank, will contact you via e-mail, phone or mail requesting your Internet Banking User ID or password. If you are contacted by anyone requesting this information, please contact us immediately.
For information regarding identity theft and fraud, how to protect yourself, and what to do if you believe you are the victim of identity theft or fraud, visit the Federal Trade Commission website at www.ftc.com.
Mobile banking applications allow you to access your bank account balances and holdings, make deposits, transfers and pay bills on your mobile device. This Policy, along with the Privacy Notice, applies to any personal information and other information that we may collect through the mobile banking application.
We may collect online/mobile activity data when you access our mobile applications or use the browser on your mobile device to access our website. For example, if you have enabled location services on your mobile device, we may collect geolocation data from your device.
Certain applications on mobile devices may transmit information to us when you request information from the application. For example, when searching for a nearby ATM, your mobile device may transmit your current location to provide ATMs near your current location.
In addition, certain mobile applications, in order to support person-to-person (P2P) payments, may, if granted by the mobile user, access the user’s address book and pull up contact information of a friend or relative to send money to.
Children's Online Privacy
This website is not directed to children. We do not market to children, nor do we knowingly collect or retain personally identifiable information from children.
We do not intentionally collect any information on our website from anyone under the age of 13. We request that such individuals do not provide us with any information. If a parent or guardian becomes aware that his or her child has provided us with information without their consent, he or she should promptly contact us and we will delete such information from our files.
The Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (“COPPA”) protects children under the age 13 from the online collection of personal information. For more information about the COPPA, visit the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) website at www.ftc.gov.
We will retain your personal information for the period necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this Policy, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law.
Changes to Our Policy
From time to time, we may make changes to this Policy in order to accommodate new technologies, industry practices, and regulatory requirements or for other purposes. We encourage you to review the Policy periodically to ensure that you understand how we collect, use and share information through our online/mobile services. If we do make changes to the Policy, we will also update the “Effective” date posted at the top of the Policy.
Any changes to the Policy will become effective when the revised Policy is posted on the website, relevant mobile application or other Sunwest Bank online interface, as applicable. By continuing to use our online/mobile services following such changes, you are agreeing to accept the terms of the revised Policy.
